Since 1995, the Friends of the Flagstaff Public Library have honored local authors with the Copper Quill Award. The award is designed to recognize authors whose body of work has made significant contributions to literature. Previous recipients include writers of nonfiction, fiction, poetry, children's picture books, and young adult novels. Recipients are honored at a public event and presented with a plaque and cash stipend.

The winner of the award is chosen by previous Copper Quill recipients, but this year, the Friends of the Library are opening nominations to all residents of Coconino County.

If you would like to nominate a local author for consideration, please fill out the application here. Applications are due September 30th.

Requirements:

  1. Authors cannot nominate themselves.
  2. The nominee must be a local author who currently lives in Coconino County or who had once lived in the county for at least one year.
  3. The nominee must have published a book and/or articles. Adding more than one publication is encouraged.
