Computer Classes

Rules for Computer Lab Classes

  • Patrons may take a specific class up to a maximum of three times.
  • If a patron signs up for a class, but does not attend or call to cancel, it counts for one of the three times that they can take a class.
  • Patrons CANNOT bring a laptop to class.
  • No more than 20 people in the lab at one time.
  • Adults CANNOT bring their children to class.

Introduction to the Internet
This class is intended as an introduction to the Internet with particular attention to the World Wide Web. Students will become familiar with the Internet Explorer browser, learn to do a simple search on the World Wide Web and become familiar with some interesting sites. Some classes may be on a specific subject. Students in this class should already have some computer experience.
Intermediate Internet
This class will concentrate on effective surfing of the Internet. Students should already be somewhat familiar with the Internet.
Introduction to Word
This class is intended as an introduction to the basic tools of the Word 2010 program. Students will be shown the basics of Word 2010 and practice their new skills. Some classes may be on a specific subject. Students in this class should have experience handling a mouse.
Intermediate Word
This class will review the basics of word and begin more advanced skills such as including a table and drawing tools, and learn that there are always multiple ways of doing things. Students should already be familiar with Word 2010.
Introduction to Computers
This class is intended as an introduction to computers and to the Windows environment. Students will become familiar with the basic components of a computer, learn the parts of the windows operating environment, and become comfortable with simple navigation through the environment Please take the self directed mouse tutorial in the Gates Lab before taking this class.
Introduction to E-Mail
Sign up for an E-mail account and learn the tips & tricks of E-mail. Students in this class should already have some computer experience.
Intro to Excel
Excel is the Microsoft Office spreadsheet program. This class will introduce students to the basics of using a spreadsheet. Students in this class should already have some computer experience.
Intro to the Library Catalog
Learn the tips and tricks of using the Library's new online catalog. Students in this class should already have some computer experience.
Introduction to PowerPoint
This class is intended as an introduction to the presentation software PowerPoint. Students in this class should already have computer and word processing experience.
Intro to Publisher
Students will be introduced to publications they can create with Publisher 2010. Students in this class should already have computer and word processing experience.
